USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR Dakota Madison and Sierra Avalon team up to bring readers a new breed of antiheroes…THE NINES.
Vengeance is mine not the Lord’s. It’s what I breathe for. It’s what I’m still living for. I live for the moment when I will literally have his eye for mine. It’s been two years. Two long and difficult years, but my plan is nearly complete. When I’m not in a hospital having doctors try to repair my ravaged body I spend my time on the computer, doing hacking jobs for large corporations and governments who don’t want to get their hands dirty or be associated with a job if things go sideways. But they don’t have any reason to worry. I’m meticulous, so I’ll never get caught. Just one thing stands in my way: The mysterious young woman without a past who desperately wants to be part of my future. I just need to figure out why…
THE NINES is an ongoing romantic suspense series. Each book can be read as a STAND ALONE NOVEL or as PART OF THE SERIES.
Roxie and Alexander have hurtful past they are both trying to forget and move forward from. Revenge is what Alex feels he needs. Roxie feels nothing but shame and guilt for something that wasn't even her fault. An inexplicable force keeps drawing the two to each other, but could their pasts be more intertwined then they realize? Alex is so great at working with a computer that companies hire him for things they need done under the books. When Alex tries to use his skills to dig into Roxie's past he comes up empty handed. As someone he is so drawn to this is a mystery he wants to solve.
I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this book. To say it is not the same story line I have read a million times before is an understatement. While I do not think this book will be for everyone with the events the occur throughout the book I must say it was all done tastefully. While the events may not be for everyone they are things that are happening and occurring everyday and it is sad how much goes unreported. It is also sad how many people experience the stereotyping and reactions to being and looking different (whether it is your family origin or physical deformities) that occur in the book. I don't want to get too specific and ruin anything, but the main reason I held back from a 5 star rating is I felt Alex would have had a stronger reaction/acceptance of Roxie's past. I felt it was just brushed aside when it had such an impact on the person he had become and huge events in his life. Either way I'm looking forward to the future books in this series. Wonderful job with a story that has so many topics many may consider sensitive.
