When I chose to leave home I knew what I was giving up. I knew I was walking away from life as I knew it and the plans that we had made. We…us…him and I…
It’s funny to think of him in a different light…or life.
That’s what it feels like, a lifetime ago.
But I’m a different person now. I have rules and goals. And if it wasn’t for my parents' vow renewal I would have successfully evaded him for the rest of my life. This is not by choice, I can tell you that.
I just need to focus and remember the key to this weekend is avoidance…and alcohol. But if anyone can pull that off it’s me,
Sidney Chandler, queen of avoiding anything that will make me feel.
It’s just one weekend, right?
One very long weekend with my family…friends…my sisters and me…together, and our nemeses, the McAllister triplets.
What could possibly go wrong?
Everything.
They say you never forget your first love, now just imagine how hard it is to
forget your only.
forget your only.
This is going to suck.

Sidney Chandler made the choice to walk away. She left everything she has ever known and her first love behind. Ten years later it is all coming to an end. Successful in avoiding all family events and the McAllister triplets was never an easy task, but with her parent's vow renewal it's not impossible. The plus side it is only one weekend. One weekend Sidney needs to remind herself to be strong and why she needs to be strong. One weekend full of strong will and alcohol should be the recipe.
I wasn't sure what to expect starting this series, but the roller coaster ride Emersyn Vallis brings you on was so much fun! The attraction and love story behind Sidney and Simon was absolutely breath taking. It's so hard to watch two people who anyone can tell are meant to be together fighting their natural attraction. While we are brought through many twist, turns, and just pure chaos Emersyn Vallis never loses her end game. Well written and developed characters led to an extremely entertaining page turner.I'm not sure I could even pick a best part of the book or favorite character because they are all so entertaining. They family dynamic alone leaves you laughing and the is before you add in the McAllister triplets and their mother Judith. I look forward to continuing the series to figure out more of the puzzle pieces we are still missing and seeing how long it ends. Not to mention which sister is the last to give in!
We all have choices in life… paths to take… roads
to follow…. It’s on those journeys that fate finds us and takes us where we need to be… Without a second glance we can be taken away from things we know… "people we love" and given a new life...
One that can change us… save us…
What would you do if fate dropped you at a crossroads? Would you go back? Or would you run like hell the other way?

Everyone's life has a path it is going down. Sometimes you come upon a crossroad and you have to decide between what is wanted for you and what you desire yourself. Things may also be taken away without a second thought and choices are made futures are changed. Lives given, lives lost, and lives changed. Do you know what your choices would be? Would you run for the hills or roll with the punches?
Hanging Pawns is the second installment in the Fate series. It is more of a prequel to Adjournment then a second book. In this book we go back to the beginning and get a glimpse into Mea, whom you met in Adjournment. You get to see where she comes from, how her and Josh came to be, and also a little more into Simon and his choices. I was a bit confused in the beginning because I didn't realize it was Mea's story. While her story is a bit sad I really enjoyed seeing her as a character open up and meet the twins, triplets, and Josh. It was a great story that gave some more answer to the missing puzzles pieces from book one. I enjoyed getting a deeper look into Simon's choices and how many really knew and understood what was going one. While there is still some mystery to all that happened in the past we are starting to get a clear picture. Great job by Emersyn Vallis!
For years my life was in a state of Adjournment…
Fate had constructed a plan to push me away… to save me…
There was a danger I never knew existed, one I had never sensed.
My family positioned themselves around me.
Like Hanging Pawns, they shielded me from it and I lived blissfully unaware… until now.
Now, I know there are rules to this game...
Sacrifices to be made in order to get to End Game.
What would I Sacrifice for one more moment... one last look? Touch? Kiss?
The answer is simple…
Everything.

For years Sidney's life was in a state of Adjournment. Fate (or those who love her) constructed a plan to push Sidney away. All to save her from a danger that she never knew existed in the first place. All the while her family (and strangers) positioned themselves around her, like hanging pawns, to shield her. Sidney existed in her mediocre life blissfully unaware of what was done. Slowly she is learning the rules to the game and finding sacrifices are going to have to be made to get to the end game. What would Sidney sacrifice or is it too late. Has the sacrifice already been set in motion?
Sacrifice is Book Three in the Fate series. We jump back in to Simon and Sidney's story where we left off after Adjournment. This series is amply named and the comparison to a chess game is right on. If you enjoy books that keep you guess and don't give away all that will happen this is it for you. I don't want to go into much detail because everything is strategically set up so you learn certain things at certain time I will say I cannot wait for how this is all going to end. Just remember what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas. Love love love all the characters and the individuality they each have that makes a great dynamic.
4 upon time, there were two girls living their lives completely unaware of one another and the dangerous game they had been placed in…
Until Fate found them…
Fate saved them, made them stronger & with time, Fate brought them together to become friends rather than enemies…
Until a cruel Queen made her move, threatened the Knight,
And an innocent Pawn was sacrificed…
Now the game is in our hands…
Fate might have set us up for this… but we control the moves now…
And we have our own plan.
Revenge.

Holy smokes what a series! Completely intriguing, entertaining, mind boggling entertainment. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys the element of surprise, continuous guessing, twist, turns, ups, down, left, right and backwards. Pieces coming together you never expected, surprises that leaving you turning the page fast then before. Be prepared to have time to read when you start this because without a doubt you will not want to stop. The character development, dialect, relationships, friendships, and overall entertainment between the main characters is enough to read it before you even add the element of the game. I absolutely love that each relationship you see throughout book has its own dynamic yet fits perfectly with the people themselves. It was absolutely wondering to finally reach the check mate and have it all laid out in front of you. Wonderful wonderful job by Emersyn Vallis. I am a bit curious what she originally had in store for Sidney's story as she said in the acknowledgement it changed from what it started as , but I do agree I don't think it could get much better then where it ended. I look forward to more from Emersyn Vallis. Thank you for a wonder ride. I hope others enjoy it as much as I did!

Emersyn Vallis is a first time author with Adjournment being the first book in the Fated Series. Currently residing on the east coast with her husband and three children she is typically mistaken for being quiet and reserved her friends often describe her as a spastic spider monkey and always the first to be there with her quick wit to pull you back up when you’re feeling down. After reading as a hobby for most of her life it wasn’t until she had discovered R. L. Mathewson’s ‘Neighbor from Hell Series’ and Tara Sivec’s ‘Playing with Fire Series’ that she came up with the idea to fuse comedy and suspense together and her passion for writing was born.
