What happens when a single mom’s four-year-old daughter falls in love with Mr. Right and she doesn’t?
Maggie Tyson’s rule: no bad boys. Her incarcerated ex-husband broke her of that attraction. Needing to escape his threats and the scrutiny of the people in her hometown, Maggie relocates to New York City. Determined to not make the same mistakes, she has a mile-long list of dos and don’ts. Unfortunately, her daughter, Cecily, doesn’t like to follow them. When Cecily wanders away from her and right into Rick Stone’s office, Maggie knows he’s the exact type she’s been trying to avoid. Can she resist him or will she succumb to his willful charm?
Rick Stone’s rule: bed them don’t wed them. Running a multibillion dollar business doesn’t leave him with much time to do anything else, particularly with an overbearing grandfather breathing down his neck. But when a man works hard, he needs to play even harder. Voted America’s most eligible bachelor, Rick doesn’t have any problems getting women into his bed—except one.
Two auburn beauties stumble into his life.
One will break his heart.
The other—heal it.
Will he love or leave them?
Maggie Tyson has a rule...no bad boys. Her incarcerated ex-husband has made that attraction null. Needing to get away Maggie leaves her home town for New York City to live with her sister. Working one night her daughter Cecily wander off into the office of Rick Stone. Rick is exactly what Maggie has decided she needs to stay away form. Unfortunately, for her Cecily is drawn to him. Rick has one rule and that is bed them don't wed them. The last thing he is looking for is a serious relationship, especially one that involves a child.
I am actually surprised looking through the some of the other reviews that so many people did not finish. They don't know what they are missing. I really enjoyed the relationship between Cecily and Max (aka Rick). Many said they didn't like that there was no much interaction between Maggie and Rick in the first half of the book, but by the cover alone I took this book as being focused on the unlikely allies that Rick and Cecily make. CeCe is so adorable throughout the entire book and really makes it amazing. Maggie and Rick are both so stubborn and at some point I just wanted to shake them both, but it was a interesting to see two people who were so against each other fight for what they believe is right for them. Meanwhile everyone else can see what is right in front of their face. Overall I really enjoyed Unlikely Allies and would love to see Maggie's sister get a story!
