Liam Knight, a sexy panty-melting, hard-bodied streetfighter and renowned tattoo artist, is rising up the ranks of the UFC Middleweight Division, but he’s about to get knocked out by his past.
Quinn Kelley is a semester away from becoming a college graduate when her mother’s death sends her spiraling, forcing her to go back to her hometown and a past she can’t outrun.
Nearly a decade ago, Liam and Quinn fell in love while surviving on the city streets together, but they were torn apart by one irreversible night. Now each has moved forward without the other, but like a tattoo on the heart, absolute love creates a lasting burn.
Quinn has kept a tight rein on her emotions, but with the passing of her mother, the foundation she’s built begins to crack. Will seeing Liam again crumble her fortress to the ground, uncovering the flame that still burns? Or will it extinguish the fire forever?
Liam’s tough exterior and resentful demeanor hides more than a wounded heart. He’s tormented by guilt over what happened to Quinn—and the secret he kept, even from her. But revealing his secrets would require unearthing the all-consuming monster he keeps caged in the darkest part of his soul, the one that threatens to devour him.
When they’re given a second chance, will they let go of their fear and pride and let the flame between them become one?
If Liam Knight only knew one day in a graveyard with a familiar face would alter his life. Quinn Kelley spends her days wandering and wasting time in safe places. Both Liam and Quinn have lived a life being unloved and moving foster home to foster home. One day, one hope changes Quinn's life forever. Ten years later Quinn is being forced to face her past and everything she ran from. Liam who has never been able to move on has no idea his ultimate demise is about to resurface. Will this be a second chance for these two love birds or is there too much anger?
I absolutely loved Liam and Quinn's story. Going into the book you have an idea of what happened from events that happened and were talked about in Dare, but it was so great to see a more in depth look. I am not a huge fan of flipping from the past to the future in books, but Allie Juliette Mousseau did an amazing job. I cried, I laughed, and I smiled throughout the book. The connection and relationship between the young Liam and Quinn is almost heartbreaking when looking at all they have gone through. To find that connection with someone saved both of their lives and keeps you routing for them to find each other again right up until the very end. Exceptional writing and story line once again. Not to mention I enjoyed getting to see Sophie and Charlie for a bit! I look forward to finding out who is going to be next out of the Brothers of Ink and Steel.
Sophie Garner took her daughter Charlie and ran from her abusive husband since the law couldn't help. Changing names and identities for years Sophie still manages to find a way to get her degree in massage therapy. After landing an amazing job at a hospital Sophie is offered the job of a lifetime when fate, or a fireman who saved a little boy's life, pops into her life one day. Josh "The Jackhammer" North has been through some things in his life. Nothing has effected him the way Sophie does the instant he meets her. With a open spot on his team he needs filled he offers her a ridiculous salary to come on board. Sophie has a few rules of her own. Can the come to an agreement and will the keep to the terms of their agreement or is their attraction too much to stay apart?
Josh and Sophie both had some rough times in their lives. While Josh has moved past his issues for the most part Sophie is still running from hers. Afraid to be caught or found out Sophie is super protective of her and her daughter's identities. Knowing it's almost time to move again Sophie struggles with letting her daughter get attached to others. Josh know that Sophie is hiding something, but he doesn't know how big. While the chemistry between the two is off the charts their struggle to come to terms with each other and the problems each brings to a relationship keeps them off kilter. Twist, turns, surprises, and lots of grinning! Wonderful job on the characters in the book. From the main characters to the secondary characters I felt a connection between each. The love and acceptance of the North family is so amazingly written you can feel it. I see there is other North books as well as more coming in the Brothers of Ink series that I look forward to reading.
